Job Description: Migration Manager
Job Summary:
The MigrQation Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and
successful completion of data migration projects within our SAP R/3 environment. This
role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and a deep understanding of
data migration methodologies, particularly using LSMW. The Migration Manager will
oversee a team of migration consultants, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and
adherence to project timelines and budgets. This role involves significant cross-
functional collaboration with various business units and IT teams.
Responsibilities:
? Project Planning and Management:
? Develop and manage comprehensive data migration project plans,
including scope definition, timelines, resource allocation, and budget
management.
? Define and document data migration strategies, including data cleansing,
transformation, and validation processes.
? Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, proactively escalating as
needed.
? Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and
provide regular status reports to stakeholders.
? Team Leadership and Management:
? Lead and mentor a team of data migration consultants.
? Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure team members have the
necessary resources and support.
? Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
? Data Migration Execution:
? Oversee the execution of data migration activities, ensuring adherence to
established processes and quality standards.
? Collaborate with functional teams (e.g., SD, MM, FI/CO) to understand
data requirements and ensure data accuracy.
? Oversee the use of LSMW for data migration, ensuring efficient and
effective data loading.
? Manage data cleansing and transformation activities to ensure data
quality.
? Oversee the development and execution of data validation and
reconciliation processes.
? Stakeholder Management:
? Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including business users, IT
teams, and project sponsors.
? Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on project goals
and objectives.
? Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on
data migration processes.
? Documentation and Compliance:
? Ensure all data migration activities are properly documented, including
data mapping, transformation rules, and validation results.
? Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company policies.
? Continuous Improvement:
? Identify opportunities to improve data migration processes and
methodologies.
? Stay up-to-date on the latest data migration trends and technologies.
Qualifications:
? Experience:
? Minimum of 6+ years of experience in SAP data migration projects.
? Proven experience managing data migration projects from planning to go-
live.
? Strong experience with LSMW for data migration in SAP R/3.
? Experience with data cleansing, transformation, and validation techniques.
? Experience with master data migration (e.g., Customer, Vendor, Material)
and transactional data migration (e.g., Sales Orders, Purchase Orders).
? Experience with cross-module data migration (SD, MM, FI/CO, etc.).
? Skills:
? Excellent project management skills, including planning, organizing, and
execution.
? Strong leadership and team management skills.
? In-depth knowledge of SAP R/3 data structures and data migration
processes.
? Expertise in using LSMW for data migration.
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
? Education:
? Bachelor& 39 s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related
field.
? SAP certification is a plus.
