Job Description:
Position Purpose
To lead administrators in Backup & Restore Management function.
Position Responsibilities
? Backup and Restore Strategy: Develop and lead the implementation of comprehensive
backup and restore strategies to safeguard critical data, ensuring data integrity and
availability.
? Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of backup and restore administrators,
providing guidance, support, and technical expertise.
? Backup Technologies: Manage and maintain backup technologies, such as backup
software (e.g., Rubrik, Veeam, Commvault), tape libraries, and disk-based backup
solutions.
? Backup and Restore Operations: Oversee daily backup and restore operations, monitor
job status, and troubleshoot issues to ensure successful data backups and timely data
recovery.
? Disaster Recovery: Design and implement robust disaster recovery plans and
procedures, including regular testing and refinement to minimize downtime and data
loss in the event of a disaster.
? Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures and policies to
protect backup data. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry
standards.
? Automation: Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline backup and restore
tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance the reliability of data protection processes.
? Vendor Management: Collaborate with backup and restore technology vendors,
evaluate new solutions, and manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal
performance and cost-effectiveness.
? Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of backup and restore
configurations, procedures, and policies
Qualifications and Experience Requirement
Qualifications
Essential Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Threshold Competencies
• Proven experience in leading backup and restore teams.
• Strong expertise in backup and restore technologies and best practices.
• Proficiency in backup software and hardware (e.g., tape libraries, disk-based backup).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data protection issues.
• Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
• Knowledge of cloud-based backup solutions (e.g., AWS Backup, Azure Backup) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications in data protection and recovery (e.g., Certified Information Systems
Security Professional - CISSP).
Leadership Competencies
• Proven experience in leading Backup Restore teams.
• IT experience in Banking in industry is beneficial.
